Preparing for Paris Brest Paris 2011

It's not too early to be thinking about PBP 2011. Here's why:

Next year may be a critical year for PBP hopefuls. Entry quotas are nothing new for PBP, but the formula for calculating quotas has changed.

For riders, the ACP indicates that if someone rides more and longer ACP brevets in 2010, that rider will have a registration priority over other riders in that country who ride fewer, shorter ACP brevets. (That means, an American rider can move him/herself up within the American quota by riding more and longer brevets.)

Each country will have a basic quota based on that country's number of entrants and finishers in PBP 2007. Our national quota may increase based on the number of brevet kilometers we ride in 2010.

What this means for riders, is that if you can ride a brevet series in 2010 (and I heard the ACP is looking for a 400 km brevet specifically) your chances of making the quota will increase.

What this means for Southern Arizona Randonneurs is that we can help the overall American quota by offering as many ACP brevets as we can comfortably handle - which leads me to our next topic: the interactive calendar.
