Base Camp: Rockin River Ranch, Camp Verde, AZ

Base camp for the brevet and training weekend is the Rockin River Ranch in Camp Verde. This is a real working ranch with horses and buffalo. By the time you arrive in late April, folds and baby buffalo will be newly born. There may even be chicks in the raven nest in the barn rafters.

The ranch is nestled between the Verde River and the base of the mountains and Prescott National Forest. It's so quiet out there you can hear yourself think, and so far from Phoenix that you can see the Milky Way.

The ranch house has bedrooms upstairs and downstairs, living room, kitchen, dining room, and a large outdoor patio.

The Ranch is the base of operations; it is start location for the 200, 300, 400, and 600 km brevets. Coaching and PBP presentations will also be held at the ranch.

Directions

Directions from Tucson, Phoenix, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and Prescott.

1. Get on I-17 north. If you're coming from Tucson, you'll have to transition from I-10 to I-17 in Phoenix. Exits are clearly marked. As you leave Phoenix to the north, you'll be on I-17.
2. Everyone gets off I-17 just before Camp Verde at Exit 285 General Crook Trail.
3. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right.
4. At the end of the road, turn right on Hwy 260.
5. Go 0.2 miles and take the first right onto Oasis Rd.
6. Go 0.4 miles and at the end, turn right on Salt Mine Rd.
7. Go about 5 miles. The ranch is on the left immediately after the Clear Creek River Access. Look for signs on the left for the river access and the Rockin River Ranch.
8. Turn left into the dirt driveway. Go about 1 mile. The ranch house is a beige building.

Directions from Flagstaff points north:

1. Take I-17 south and get off at Exit 287.
2. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on Hwy 260 toward Camp Verde.
3. Go 1.8 miles and turn right on Oasis Rd.
4. Go 0.4 miles and at the end, turn right on Salt Mine Rd.
5. Go about 5 miles. The ranch is on the left immediately after the Clear Creek River Access. Look for signs on the left for the river access and the Rockin River Ranch.
6. Turn left into the dirt driveway. Go about 1 mile. The ranch house is a beige building.
