Anasazi Inn, Hwy 89

Home

The sleep stop and bag drop for the Grand Canyon 600 km brevet is the Anasazi Inn. The inn is 227 miles into the ride and is located 40 miles north of Flagstaff.

Reservations have been made in my name (Susan Plonsky). Lodging Saturday night is not included in your brevet fee. Room rate is $49 (two beds, non-smoking).

Note: This is a special rate for us as the rooms have no tv or phones. If you need to watch HBO after riding for 277 miles or use a land line, it's no problem - ask for another room. A higher room rate applies.

Here's how it works
It's not necessary to call or make your own reservations. Simply show up at the inn and tell them you want one of the rooms that has been reserved in my name. Pay cash or by credit card.

If you arrive after 10 pm, check in at the convenience store next door which is open 24 hours. The restaurant across the street is open from 6 am to 9 pm.

Lodging and Sleeping Alternatives
If you choose not to sleep at the Anasazi Inn, the next place to sleep would be on the eastern side of Flagstaff, about 260 miles into the ride and there are many hotels there from which to choose.

After Flagstaff the only other place to sleep indoors is the lodge at Mormon Lake (about 297 miles into the ride). I doubt that they have staff all night so I wouldn't show up there in the middle of the night without a reservation.

Drop bag service: Bags will be delivered to the Anasazi Inn on Saturday afternoon and picked up on Sunday morning. You are limited to one duffel bag (the size of the RUSA duffel bag).

If you ride through:
If you ride through and don't stop to sleep during the brevet, you may not find services open after Flagstaff (mile 268). If that's the case, your last chance to buy food is the Flagstaff Circle K (mile 268). You can find water at the laundry building at Mormon Lake (mile 297) at any hour. I will stash water for riders at Clints Well (mile 326), at the intersection of Hwy 260 General Crook Trail and Hwy 87 (mile 337), and at the General Crook Monument (about mile 350). We can talk more about the water supply on Friday when you arrive.
